FROM EARTH TO ART
GLZD Ceramics is owned and operated by Kansas native, Mitzi. A lifelong lover of all things creative and artistic, Mitzi relocated to Colorado to pursue a life filled with nature, outdoors and adventure while keeping true to her free and edgy spirit. When she began her ceramic journey, she found her style by connecting clay from the earth with designs and elements inspired by the colorful life she has lived.
Mitzi’s professional background as a barber and nurse has helped her hone qualities that shape the pottery she creates. These stages in her life have allowed her to enjoy working with her hands with patience and precision. She believes that beauty can be seen with true individual expression. With a desire to care for and connect with others, she has found GLZD Ceramics as a means to allow that connection worldwide.
When she is not in the studio or providing patient care she can be found enjoying the Rocky Mountains in her backyard. Whether camping, biking, hiking or paddleboarding, nature is both an inspiration and reminder to slow down, notice the smallest details, and stay connected with the earth. By working with clay, she is able to take a literal piece of the ground and form it into functional and decorative pieces to share with others.
This lifelong passion for art and the outdoors has paved the way for Mitzi to use pottery as a medium to create, connect and share something meaningful with others. Sharing her art is a means to spread the joy and creativity found with the making of each individual piece of pottery. By using dripping glazes, swirls of glaze colors, edgy transfers and bold shapes, Mitzi hopes that others find a moment of delight and connect with the energy of the hands that create the art.
